Some Tuesday Morning Thoughts On Slow Business

SOME TUESDAY MORNING THOUGHTS ON SLOW BUSINESS FROM A SLOW-BUSINESS LOVING BABE.

I can't remember how I first heard about slow business, or where I first heard the term, but it completely resonated with me. It's something that I've always felt strongly about but most of all it's a way of living and working that wants nothing more but to be in harmony with all the other elements and factors of life. In our ideal worlds, we co-exist in a place where all we really desire is to feel happy, and live in harmony with each other and our environment, weaving our soft smiles and daily business in- to a homogeneous mass of everyday comfort and ease. Yet, somehow we are caught up in this idea of fast business and how quick “success” can be achieved. The current environment that we are nurtured into has allowed us to feel that success is measured in how many times we burned out how frequently we can’t sleep with worry or how many sick days we haven’t taken, even when we are sick.

The reality is that there is no ‘quick trick’ to form success and if we try to live our lives quick trick, after quick trick then we only set ourselves up for disappointment, and exhuastion.

The premise of slow business is to take a step back from the hustle and bustle of life, take a deep breath and make sure that what you're doing has both integrity, and purpose. Slow business is about working with intention, rather than just doing what needs to be done. It's about making sure that every decision you make is one that aligns with your values and beliefs.

Slow business doesn't mean slow growth or minimal money; it means being more mindful of where your time, energy and resources are going so that they can be put towards the things that matter most. Slow business is about moving away from the traditional, fast paces, high-stress, corporate way of doing things, which often involves being uber-reactive and responding to whatever comes your way. When you're in this mode, it becomes all too easy to miss opportunities and make decisions based on what other people think or want instead of what you truly feel.

Slow business is about being proactive; it's about thinking ahead so that you can plan accordingly rather than just reacting when a ‘problem solving’ situation occurs. Slow business is about creating a sustainable pace for yourself and those involved with your brand that allows you to think deeply about what's important to you. It's about being present and aware of the opportunities that are available to you at any given moment so that when one comes along, you can capitalize on it rather than lose out because of lack of foresight.

Slow business is about taking the time to understand what's important to you and then making decisions based on that information. It's about not rushing into a decision because it seems like the right thing to do at that moment, but rather considering all of your options before choosing one. Slow business is about finding the balance between being productive and taking time for yourself so that you can recharge your batteries and come back with renewed energy.

Your creative mind, and creative brand will connect with a slower pace as it creates a bridge from our art, to our lifestyle and to our business. By creating a space for creative thinking, we can unlock the potential for innovation and growth that is so often locked away by the toxicity of productivity.
